That’s not to take anything away from director Troy Nixey, who crafts a cool Gothic spin on the 1973 TV movie of the same name. The story opens as little Sally Hirst (Bailee Madison) is sent off (i.e., ditched) by her mother to Rhode Island to live with her father (Guy Pierce) and his new girlfriend (Katie Holmes), who are remodeling the world’s creepiest mansion for architectural fame and fortune. No sooner does Sally settle in to her new dysfunctional family life when a horde of small creatures emerge from below the house and start beckoning her to the basement. When she doesn’t comply, Sally quickly becomes the target of the malevolent little hell spawn and must fend for herself – cause adults, as we all know, are dismissive assholes.
While it may not have the same punch as Del Toro’s Spanish-language films, the script is full of his usual ideas and themes. Changing the Sally character (an adult in the TV movie) to a little girl adds an extra level of innocence and vulnerability to the story, and actress Bailee Madison delivers one of the most intense performances you’ll ever see from a child actress, single-handedly blowing away all her adult co-stars. Troy Nixey’s direction is full of suitably dark visuals and lavish production design, and he manages to pull sympathetic moments from every member of the cast (even the ever-wooden Holmes). Make no mistake; this is a creature feature, but it’s the story’s family dynamic that makes it rise above the more conventional elements.

Well they’re still Edo zombies so they’ll definitely have regeneration and might have their own abilites, assuming the six paths technique doesn’t overwrite their abilities. I don’t really expect it will, cheap five fingers , but then Nagato’s Paths of Pain could each only use the one ability. They were straight up dead corpses though so maybe that’s make a difference. I kind of doubt they’ll have their personalities, since I think Tobi will have complete control of them through the six paths technique. That or he might have gotten them with genjutsu’s to keep their personalities from interfering. He’s good at adapting his plans, if he knows the edo zombies can be dispelled by reaching them emotionally or bringing them inner peace he would do something to stop it. I’m pretty sure Kabuto told him that could happen when he explained the technique so I think he would take countermeasures.
I forgot about him doing the rain thing. That always was weird that none of the bodies ever used elemental techs. I mean some of them might have been yin-yang based, that would explain how Asura Path lets you create arms out of nowhere. Still odd that Kishi just sort of ignored that. Dialogues are written by Milap Zaveri and some of the lines bring great amusement to the viewers in this desi boyz movie. Rohit Dhawan has put his all effort, but the film is tolerable & is only a one time watch, as most of the Desi Boyz movie review claims. Somewhere, viewers find the humour facetious and irreverent.
